Sean got divorced from Maggie after his son drowned. He is still in love with her, which is why he cannot commit to a relationship.
Season 2[]
Sean becomes attracted to Leigh, but had not admitted his feelings for her since breaking off his relationship with Jenna and still falling in love with Maggie. He witnesses Leigh almost marry Sam just to see her heartbroken after Sam leaves her. Sean is not seen again after taking a ride with the rest of the lifeguards, but it can be assumed he did not pursue a relationship with Leigh.

Jason Brooks had previously guest starred as Brown Goodman in the second season Baywatch episode Game of Chance, making Sean Monroe his second and now main role.
